IS THE PRESIDENT A MAN OF INTEGRITY
The measure of a leader is the gap between his statements and his actions. The following represents such an examination of Barack Hussein Obama, the 44th president of the United States: CAMPAIGN FUNDING "I
don't think American elections should be bankrolled by America's most
powerful interests, or worse, by foreign entities."
Sen.
Barack Obama's presidential campaign allowed donors to use largely
untraceable prepaid credit cards
that could potentially be used to evade limits on how much an individual
is legally allowed to give or to mask a contributor's identity, campaign
officials confirmed.
“Obama accepting cash from untraceable prepaid credit cards,” Washinton
Post, Oct. 28, 2008.
President Obama said, “The Supreme Court has given a green light to a
new stampede of special interest money in our politics."
Obama is the first major presidential candidate
ever
to forego public financing in a presidential election. He received huge
amounts of money from special interest groups. He spent more campaign
money than any presidential candidate in U.S. history. RIGHT OF CONSCIENCE PROTECTIONS FOR EMPLOYEES
"Let’s honor the conscience of those who disagree with abortion, and
draft a sensible conscience clause, and make sure that all of our health
care policies are grounded in clear ethics and sound science, as well as
respect for the equality of women."
President Barack Obama has
taken the next step to remove the new protections the Bush
administration put in place to protect pro-life medical centers and
staff who do not want to do abortions. The protections provided better
enforcement for existing conscience laws for medical professionals. MARRIAGE
President Barack Obama told MTV he believes marriage is "between a man
and a woman" and that he is "not in favor" of same-sex "marriage."
He
(President Obama) supports full civil unions and federal rights for LGBT
couples and opposes a constitutional ban on same-sex marriage. The
president opposed the Proposition 8 marriage amendment in California. PUBLIC DEBATE
President Obama called for a new, more respectful tone on issues of
disagreement, marked by “open hearts, open minds, fair-minded words.”
President Barack Obama said Cambridge police acted "stupidly" in the
arrest of prominent black scholar Henry Louis Gates Jr. in Cambridge
last week.
