President Says World Is Entering New ‘Golden Age’

By John Semmens: Semi-News — A Satirical Look at Recent News

President Barack Obama told Air Force Academy graduates that “the world is entering a new ‘golden age’ thanks to me. I have bridged the differences that set America apart from what were our adversaries in an earlier era.”

The president cited his “reset button” policy for bringing the US and Russia closer together. “I have transformed Ronald Reagan’s ‘evil empire’ into a true partner for peace,” Obama boasted. “President Putin and I are on the same page when it comes to issues of war and peace. I can’t tell you all the details right now, but we are jointly working to fundamentally change the way our two nations interact.”

“We have also reached a new understanding with Islam,” he continued. “Their leaders have accepted the sacrifice of the renegade Osama bin-Laden as a necessary step if we are to mute anti-Islamic anxiety and achieve a more harmonious environment for cultural interchange, learning, and enlightenment. The day when every Muslim can freely practice his religion wherever he might find himself is closer than it has ever been.”

The president also tried to reassure Academy grads that “though we are cutting back on military expenditures, salaries and pensions won’t be on the chopping block. It is our weapons, not our young men and women in uniform that create fear throughout the world. As we reduce our dominance in weapons of mass destruction we will reduce the perceived threat we pose to the rest of the world. History will look back on this moment as the fountainhead of a new humanity—homo pacificus—that will usher in peace for all time.”

In related news, New York City’s PS368 has made learning Arabic mandatory. “Considering the way things are going, we deem it prudent to teach our students these critical language skills,” said Principal Nicky Kram Rosen. “Those who can’t communicate in the dominant language will be at a significant disadvantage. Look at how immigrants who don’t speak English end up at the bottom of the economic heap.”

Obama Campaign Recovers Loot from Capitalist Pirates

President Obama’s reelection campaign press secretary, Ben LaBolt rebuffed criticism that the campaign’s acceptance of donations from Bain Capital employees is hypocritical. Bain has been castigated by Obama for preying upon vulnerable businesses and looting them for selfish gain. Bain is the firm that GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney worked for before he became governor of Massachusetts.

“Those who don’t understand the President’s thinking imagine that he is inconsistently benefiting from the ill-gotten gains of those engaged in reprehensible conduct,” LaBolt said. “In reality, he is recovering this money, purifying it, and putting it to use is his crusade to transform America from a culture of greed into one of collective welfare and universal brotherhood/sisterhood for all humankind.”

LaBolt characterized the campaign’s receipt of donations from “repentant capitalists” as akin to the Catholic Church’s receipt of donations from mafia gangsters. “The ways in which the donors may have obtained the money might be depraved, but the uses to which the donations are put are considered laudable,” LaBolt insisted. “The Church claims it is saving souls. We are in a battle to save this country from the forces of darkness.”

In related news, Obama’s reelection campaign received the endorsement of Larry Flynt, the owner of the pornographic magazine Hustler and associated website. “From my perspective, President Obama has over-performed,” Flynt said. “Many of those he has liberated from the drudgery of employment now have more time to enjoy our products. Our revenues have seen a boost over the past three years. How could I not support the man who has been so good to us.”

Racism Said to Be Reason for Anti-Obama Vote in Dem Primaries

The Democratic presidential primaries in West Virginia, Arkansas, and Kentucky were all won by President Obama. Still, approximately 40% of the votes went for, respectively, an incarcerated felon, a virtual unknown, and “uncommitted.” Similar less than dominant outcomes in a few of the 1968 primaries inspired incumbent President Lyndon Johnson to withdraw from the race. No Obama withdrawal is anticipated.

Campaign adviser David Axelrod attributed the showing to “residual racism. To those who are stunned by this—after all these were Democratic primaries—I suggest they take a look at history. The three states we are talking about are all in the South. Southern Democrats have historically been racists. The defenders of slavery were all southern Democrats. The South is where the Ku Klux Klan has traditionally been most powerful. So, the fact that some rump of the Democratic Party in these states would come out and vote to try to embarrass a Black president should surprise no one.”

Axelrod said he didn’t think that these outcomes presage problems for the President’s reelection. “The anti-racist majority backing the president didn’t have much incentive to vote in these primaries,” he pointed out. “The President is already a lock for the nomination. They will come out to vote against racism in November.”

In related news, the New Black Panthers’ National Field Marshal, King Samir Shabazz, warned that “our tolerance for this kind of disrespectful voting is wearing thin. We are going to take over this country block-by-block. Crackers like these will soon find themselves in the cemetery where their future votes can be cast more responsibly and respectfully by those who really care about the Black man’s rights.”

President’s “My Sons” Reference Explained

President Obama’s campaign speech defending his healthcare policy on the grounds that “my daughters should have the same economic opportunities as my sons” has puzzled observers. Only two daughters (Malia and Sasha) have been explicitly acknowledged by the president.

Press Secretary Jay Carney explained that while “it is obvious that the president and first lady have only the two daughters currently living with them in the White House, critics shouldn’t be jumping to the conclusion that he misspoke. Statistics show that the average urban Black male fathers 3.2 children out-of-wedlock. Earlier in his life, the president was a member of this demographic. Given the roughly 50-percent chance that a child could be male, that would work out to 1.6 male offspring per urban Black male. So, statistically speaking, the president’s desire that his daughters enjoy the same rights as his sons is probably accurate.”

President Blames Deficit on “Greedy Taxpayers”

Despite running up federal deficits at a faster pace than any previous president, Obama says he is not at fault. “Deficits aren’t the result of spending alone,” the President pointed out. “Deficits occur when there is a gap between spending and revenue. If you look at the trends for both you will see that it is the revenue line that has flattened while the spending line has remained pretty much on track with prior periods.”

Of course revenues aren’t keeping up because taxpayer earnings aren’t keeping up. Business profits are down. Employees have been thrown out of work. The base upon which the tax revenue stream is founded has shrunk. Nevertheless, Obama complained that “These people are selfishly focused on their own problems. They pressure their congressmen to oppose the tax increases that are necessary to cover government expenses. When deficits inevitably soar they take no responsibility for how their own greed has caused the problem.”

Vice-President Joe Biden echoed Obama’s thinking in a speech accusing the Tea Party of “thwarting President Obama’s plan to save the economy. We’re trying to get everyone to pitch-in to help us get out of the recession. But these Tea Party guys got voters worked up using the false notion that whatever they own is theirs by right. Well, in this country, it’s the government that determines who owns what. It is our view that the government  must control all our resources in order to ensure that they are used effectively and efficiently. Reelecting the President is the only way we can guarantee that this happens.”

The president also got support from Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev), who said that “Americans must get used to paying higher taxes if they want the government to continue to serve them.” Reid denounced the idea that the government might already be taxing us too much as “extremism of the worst sort. It’s not the terrorists who pose the biggest threat. It’s those who would starve government of the resources it needs.”

School Withholds Medication, Cites Rules

Deltona (Florida) High School student Michael Rudi suffered a potentially life-threatening asthma attack while attending classes. Though an inhaler prescribed by Rudi’s doctor was available, the school nurse withheld it from him because the school could not locate a signed permission form from his parents.

The school’s Director of Student Health Services, Cheryl Selesky, defended the nurse’s action saying that “it’s a matter of liability. If we allow him to medicate himself without having the proper papers filled out and he dies, the parents could sue us. If we follow our rules the blame for any ill consequences falls on the parents for their failure to complete the required paperwork in a timely manner. It’s basically a ‘no-brainer’ decision for us.”

Selesky admitted that the school’s back up policy of calling 911 was not implemented. Instead, the nurse locked Rudi in her office “to prevent other students from possibly being traumatized by seeing one of their classmates suffocate to death. I know the student’s mother and others may be second-guessing what we did, but we have a responsibility to the collective well-being of all our students. No individual’s situation, no matter how dire, can be allowed to override this responsibility.”

Problem-plagued Sheriff Babeu Continues to step in it

Seeing Red in AZ reports on more controversy involving Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu:

May 22, 2012

This news hit a couple of days ago, but with Paul Babeu, the absurd saga is never-ending, so we’re linking to the daily’s lengthy report of Babeu’s latest fandango. The newspaper’s account details that the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office has collected millions of dollars’ worth of surplus military equipment that is intended for law-enforcement use and distributed some of the gear to non-police agencies while preparing to sell other property as a budget booster. Both practices are banned by the Pentagon.

According to records obtained by The Arizona Republic, in the past two years, Sheriff Paul Babeu’s office has received more than $7 million worth of Humvees, fire trucks, guns, defibrillators, barber chairs, underwear, thermal-imaging scopes, computers, motor scooters and other items through the Defense Logistics Agency, which provides the excess military property free to crime-fighting agencies.

This report is worth your time. Babeu, notorious for his displays of extreme levels of arrogance — coupled with his appalling lack of judgment –  has self-detonatedhis political aspirations. In the face of a homosexual romance with a Mexican national, a scandal involving provocative postings on the Men 4 Men website, lies and a swirling controversy tied to his position as headmaster of a Massachusetts “therapeutic” school for troubled youth, he prudently ditched his congressional bid in Arizona’s new 4th District. But unable to contain his soaring ego, he has announced his intention to run once again for Pinal County Sheriff.

It ain’t gonna happen, Paul. Your seemingly meteoric rise has hit a wall. As they say in gay Paree, “Vous aiment la sauce orange sur votre oie cuite?” (Would you like orange sauce on your cooked goose?

Jack McClaren, Pinal County Constable and former Pinal County Sheriff Commander (website here), and Ty Morgan, a career officer, (website) have also filed to run for Sheriff. Steve Henry, Pinal County Sheriff Chief Deputy suspended his campaign.

2012 Legislative Session: Great Gains for Arizona Families!

By Cathi Herrod, President
Center for Arizona Policy

The Final Victories of the Session

Governor Jan Brewer signed the 3 remaining CAP-supported bills on her desk last Friday and Monday.

These three bills were no minor pieces of legislation. They were bold policies that will have a tangible impact on the lives of Arizonans.

While I am sincerely grateful to Governor Jan Brewer for signing these bills, I am also thankful for the many legislators that supported these and the other CAP-supported bills.

Earlier this week, we released our 2012 Family Issues Voting Record reporting on how every legislator voted on 12 key bills that impact life, marriage and family, and religious liberty. Take time today to find out how your legislator voted and send them a note with your thoughts. Please take time to send a note of thanks to the legislators who stood with us in defense of life, marriage and family, and religious liberty. You can be sure they have heard from those who oppose us.

An Unfounded Overreaction

From the time Rep. Justin Olson introduced HB 2800, which says federal family planning funds that pass through the state cannot go to abortion providers, to the time Governor Jan Brewer signed the bill into law, Planned Parenthood told every media outlet that would listen that this bill would deny low-income families access to medical care.

But as CAP Legislative Counsel Josh Kredit points out on the Foundations blog, there are nearly 200 clinics across the state that low-income families can visit to access care. What’s more, the vast majority of these clinics actually offer more services than the 14 Planned Parenthood clinics in our state.

Don’t Believe the Polls

Recent polls nationwide show support for redefining marriage to supposedly be a 50/50 split with support for same-sex “marriage” growing. Yet as we all know, every time the people vote on marriage, they vote strongly in favor of defining marriage as the union of one man and one woman. Then we hear, “Well, the younger generation doesn’t believe in marriage.” Yes, we do have significant challenges to restore the value of marriage in our culture. But don’t miss this fact tweeted by Family Research Council President Tony Perkins yesterday: if the votes of everyone 45+ were discounted in NC, the marriage amendment would have still passed by 8 percentage points. Check out this analysis by American Enterprise Institute.

Highlights

  • 13 is the number of Center for Arizona Policy-supported bills that were signed into law this session. Simply put, Arizona is a better place for families today than it was 5 months ago because of these bills.
  • 51 is the number of CAP-supported bills signed into law since 2009 when Governor Brewer took office. These last 4 years show the difference we can make when we elect pro-life and pro-family leaders to the legislature and Governor’s office.
  • 114 is the number of CAP-supported bills signed into law since 1995. Each of these bills takes important steps to protect the foundational values of life, marriage and family, and religious liberty.

Rep. Quayle Wants Contempt Citation Slapped on Holder

Arizona Congressman Ben Quayle writes …

Nearly a year and a half after the tragic death of Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry, the Obama Justice Department continues to defy a legitimate Congressional Investigation into what went wrong with the tragic “Operation Fast and Furious”.  This ill-conceived operation “walked” high-powered weapons across the border into the hands of criminal cartels in Mexico—on purpose.

As you know, one of these weapons was later found at the scene of Agent Terry’s murder, and hundreds of Mexicans are believed to have lost their lives as a result of these weapons.  Congress has used its proper investigative function to get to the bottom of this tragic scandal, but Attorney General Eric Holder has evaded every attempt to place accountability on those responsible.

I have been deeply angered by this foot-dragging.  Earlier this year, I introduced a resolution in the House calling for a special prosecutor to investigate Fast and Furious and the Attorney General’s role in it.  I have also joined with my House colleagues on numerous occasions to push for more action on this issue.

This week, I along with five of my Republican freshmen colleagues on the House Judiciary Committee sent a letter to Speaker Boehner, Majority Leader Cantor and Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy urging them to immediately bring a resolution to the House floor to hold Eric Holder in contempt of Congress.

The following day, House leadership sent a letter to Attorney General Holder urging him to immediately comply with the Congressional investigation.  In my view, the time for more letters is over.  Eric Holder has had numerous opportunities to do the right thing and comply with this investigation, and he has refused to do so.  Through it all, he has continued to make contradictory and demonstrably false statements to Congress, and has blocked the release of thousands of subpoenaed documents.  As you may be aware, I have called for Attorney General Holder to resign. Holder has shown clearly that he will not comply, no matter how many times we ask him nicely.

It’s time to hold him in contempt of Congress.  Our founders gave Congress the responsibility of oversight of the federal government, and we would be shirking our responsibility if we allowed the Attorney General to defy investigations at will.

One more letter from House leadership is simply too little, too late, and I said as much upon its release this week.  I will continue my efforts to restore accountability at the Department of Justice and seek Justice for Agent Terry and so many others who have been victims of this tragedy.  I won’t stop until it’s accomplished.

Securing our southern border is vital.  We won’t accomplish it until we stop trying horrible ideas like Fast and Furious, and focus on combating the cartels and using all resources to fight drug smuggling head on.  We also need to ensure that law enforcement has the tools it needs to combat the efforts of the cartels.

To that end, I teamed up with Rep. Sylvestre Reyes last year to create a bill that cracks down on the construction and use of illegal cross-border smuggling tunnels.  74 of these tunnels have been found in Arizona alone. As the lead Republican Co-sponsor of this bill, I helped shepherd it to passage out of the House Judiciary Committee, and this week it passed the whole House by a resounding margin: 416-4.  When this bill becomes law, it will have the effect of making it much more difficult to construct cross-border tunnels.

To strengthen our efforts to fight the cartels, I have also organized a field-hearing to take place in Phoenix on Monday to discuss ways to properly utilize state, federal and local authorities to combat the drug trade.  Members of Congress will hear from a number of distinguished witnesses on how best to accomplish this.  I hope these Members will gain a new appreciation for the challenges faced by border states like Arizona and will take that knowledge back to Washington with them in order to create more effective policy.

Obama Gains Key Reelection Endorsements

By John Semmens: Semi-News — A Satirical Look at Recent News

The Communist Party of the United States announced it is supporting Barack Obama’s reelection bid. “It used to be that we had to run our own candidates for public office,” recounted Sam Webb, chairman of the Communist Party USA. “In recent years, though, we’ve found a huge overlap with many of the candidates running on the Democratic ticket. Of these, President Obama is the best of the lot.”

Webb hastened to point out that “this doesn’t mean we are totally satisfied with everything he has done in his first term. The airwaves haven’t yet been cleared of fascist propaganda. Capitalists are still allowed to profiteer from meeting human needs. And property has not been fully collectivized. But we see signs of progress in all these areas and are confident that a second term will bring significant breakthroughs on all fronts.”

NARAL also proclaimed its support for a second Obama term. NARAL President Nancy Keenan said “we are proud to extend our endorsement to a man who has done more to ensure that no woman need endure an unwanted pregnancy than any of his predecessors. Under his rule no insurer will be permitted to refuse to provide whatever measure of birth control is necessary to prevent or terminate a pregnancy. He has brought us closer to the day when a more equitable distribution of child-bearing responsibilities is attained.”

County Employee Fired for Possession of Firearm

Wayne County groundskeeper John Chevilott was recently fired by County Supervisors from a job he’d held for 23 years. His offense was possession of a firearm on County property. Chevilott found a small pistol in the grass he was mowing. He turned it over to police after he completed his work shift.

“There is no question that the gun was in his possession, he admits it was,” asserted County Supervisor Leonard Prickman. “Our policy is clear. No one may carry a firearm on County property. There’s a ‘zero tolerance’ for violators. We cannot allow anyone to skirt the rules for any reason. To make an exception in this instance would be the first step on the road to total anarchy.”

As for what Chevilott should’ve done upon his chance discovery of the weapon, Prickman declined to offer an opinion. “Our policy does not cover such a contingency,” Prickman pointed out. “And we are not obligated to invent one on-the-spot just to please any amateur logicians who want to stick their noses into our affairs.”

Police Report Blames Zimmerman

A new report from the Sanford, Florida Police Department holds George Zimmerman totally responsible for the incident that resulted in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin last February. Evidence that Martin had severely beaten Zimmerman before he was shot was discounted by the report.

“The fact is, if Zimmerman had stayed home that day the confrontation would never have occurred,” the report said. “The black eyes, broken nose, and lacerated scalp he suffered would not have happened if he hadn’t ventured out into the streets and exposed himself to risk.”

That Zimmerman had taken on this risk willingly by volunteering for the neighborhood watch patrol was seen as further evidence for his culpability. “Zimmerman was aware that there had been crimes committed in the area,” the report continued. “Yet, he chose to leave the relative safety of his home in a misguided vigilante effort. He compounded his error, turning what probably would have been a routine episode of assault-and-battery into a homicide by bringing a gun along with him.”

Special Prosecutor Angela Corey promised that she will “prosecute Mr. Zimmerman to the fullest extent that I can. We need to send the message that patrolling the streets is a job best left to the police. The decision on when to use deadly force is something that must be confined to trained professionals. Citizens concerned about crime should move to safer neighborhoods and only leave their homes when absolutely necessary.”

Kenyan Birth Claim “Just a Marketing Gimmick”

The revelation that a promotional brochure produced in 1991 by Barack Obama’s literary agency touting his “Kenyan birth” was called “just a marketing gimmick” by Press Secretary Jay Carney.

“The president was trying to persuade a publisher to give him a book deal,” Carney explained. “Naturally, he wanted to make the sale, so the fact that he embellished his resume shouldn’t come as a big surprise to anyone. Come on, making yourself look bigger and better than you really are is standard procedure if you hope to survive in our competitive culture. I mean, is there anyone who hasn’t lied under similar circumstances?”

To those that might harbor suspicions that the reported Kenyan birth could be true, Carney suggested that “even if it were, I think the point is moot. The president has shown that he is fully capable of handling the job. Any deficiencies he may have had on paper have been more than offset by his on-the-job performance for the last three years. Besides, I think the statute of limitations on the whole ‘natural born citizen’ issue has expired.”

Geithner Admits “Finance Has Never Been My Strong Point”

In an interview for PBS News Hour, US Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner confessed to being “severely confused” by matters of finance.

“A few years ago I was being mocked for messing up my taxes,” Geithner complained. “But, really now, who can figure out the tax code? It’s such a mixed up pile of contradictory rules and instructions that I’d be surprised if anybody got it right.”

“This deficit stuff, what’s that all about?” Geithner wondered. “How can the government be short of money? I’ve been to the mint and it seems we can print as much as we need. If there’s a capacity problem with the presses couldn’t we just switch over from ones to hundreds?”

“And don’t get me started on this whole debt ceiling thing,” the secretary added. “I don’t get why we are borrowing money when we can print as much as we want. It seems like the Republicans are banging this drum to try to confuse voters and turn them against the president.”

As baffled as he seems on fiscal matters, Geithner claimed to have a firm grasp on the economic impacts of the Administration’s program. “More individuals have been relieved of the necessity to work under President Obama than under any of his predecessors,” he boasted. “The unemployment rate has been steadily coming down as more and more people realize they don’t have to have a job to put food on the table—that’s what food stamps are for. The president’s generosity on this alone is unparalleled in our nation’s history.”

Chaplain Bill Said to Violate Separation of Powers Clause

A House of Representative effort to enact legislation (HR 4310) that would protect military chaplains from being forced to perform same-sex “marriages” was excoriated by the White House as an unwarranted infringement on the President’s prerogatives as Commander-in-Chief.

Jeffrey Zients, Acting Director of the White House Office of Management and Budget, said the bill violates the separation of powers clause of the Constitution. “A chaplain is a member of the armed forces,” Zients observed. “The armed forces are directly under the president’s chain of command. If the President wants to order a chaplain to undertake certain designated tasks, Congress has no authority to interfere.”

The possibility that some of these designated tasks might conflict with the religious tenets of the chaplains was deemed irrelevant. “Look, service in the military is voluntary,” Zients pointed out. “If a chaplain isn’t willing to follow orders he should resign. As long as he wears the uniform, though, he, like any other soldier, is obligated to do as he is told. The president cannot allow misguided religious zealotry to interfere with his policies.”

Obama Rewrites History

Visitors to the White House website were treated to major revisions in the biographies of the Presidents. Some highlights of these revisions included:

George Washington, in an effort to create a nation that could later be ruled by Barack Obama persevered through many hardships and overcame long odds to defeat the powerful British Army and establish the United States of America in 1781.

Abraham Lincoln, anticipating the need for Barack Obama to rescue the nation from the despair of eight years of George W. Bush, issued the emancipation proclamation in 1862 declaring Blacks residing in areas outside of the control of Union armies were henceforth free. This made Obama, whose ancestors resided in Kenya at that time, eligible to become president of the United States 146 years later.

Dwight Eisenhower, realizing that there would be no opportunity for Barack Obama to become president 65 years later if the Nazis won World War II led a successful attack against the Germans in Normandy in 1944.

Ronald Reagan, foreseeing the need for massive amounts of money that could be redistributed by Barack Obama to promote social justice, used tax cuts to spark a wave of economic growth that created thousands of new millionaires.

SHOCKER: Secretary of State Threatens to Ban Obama from Arizona General Election Ballot!

The website “White House Dossier” is reporting this shocking news …

by Keith Koffler on May 18, 2012

Arizona Secretary of State Ken Bennett is threatening to keep President Obama’s name off the state’s ballot in November unless he receives confirmation from Hawaii that it has a valid birth certificate on file for him.

Bennett, who spoke to Arizona radio host Mike Broomhead Thursday, said he requested the confirmation eight weeks ago and has not gotten it. Hawaii, he said, does not have to supply a certified copy of the birth certificate, merely send him an email confirming that it has one.

Asked by Broomhead if he would remove Obama’s name from the ballot if Hawaii fails to comply, Bennett said: “That’s possible. Or the other option would be that I would ask all the candidates, including the president, to submit a certified copy of their birth certificate.”

Despite overwhelming evidence that Obama was born in Hawaii, the issue of his birth continues to dog him. Thursday, Breitbart Big Government reported on a promotional booklet by Obama’s own literary agency listing him as having been born in Kenya.

Bennett said Hawaii law permits government officials to request verification of possession of a birth certificate in lieu of a certified copy.

“They could say yes tomorrow and the whole thing goes away,” Bennett said. “If they can’t say yes to that simple question, then it makes me wonder if we have to take it to another level. One way or another, we have to have some simple verification that people are qualified for the office if they’re going to be on the ballot here in Arizona.”

Bennett asserted that he is not a “birther” and denied accusations that he is playing to the birther crowd in Arizona because he wants to run for governor. But Bennett also hedged in stating his belief that Obama was Hawwaii-born.

“I believe the president was born in Hawaii – or at least I hope he was,” Bennett said.

Arizona, with its 11 electoral votes, is an important 2012 presidential battleground state. A Real Clear Politics average of recent polling in the state has Mitt Romney ahead by only four points.

One thing I’d like to make clear. This blog believes Obama was born in Hawaii. But it also believes threats by the Arizona Secretary of State to exclude the president from the ballot are newsworthy.

Flake’s Plan to Tax Energy will Cost Arizona Families More than $1,000 a Year

Wil Cardon, Mesa businessman and Republican candidate for U.S. Senate, released his campaign’s latest television ad revealing the truth behind Congressman Jeff Flake’s energy tax.

Flake’s plan to tax energy will cost an Arizona family of four more than $1,000 a year in increased taxes on electricity, oil and gasoline, Cardon said today in email alert. The Flake energy tax will also mean higher energy costs for every Arizona business — and increase costs for the coal and fuel industries.   Flake has passed off this energy tax as “revenue neutral.” He claims it will be offset by cuts to payroll taxes — a tax cut he’s voted against and which he’s labeled “a dishonest budget gimmick.

Campaign spokeswoman Alyssa Pivirotto says, “Jeff Flake’s ripoff of Al Gore’s carbon tax is bad for Arizona families and bad for Arizona businesses. It’s typical of a career politician. Let’s give Washington nearly a trillion dollars in new energy tax money over 10 years and expect them to give it back in another tax cut. That’s not living in the real world.”

Wil Cardon is a businessman who vehemently opposes a hike in energy taxes.  Cardon has a proven track record of creating hundreds of jobs. He remains focused on his campaign’s core issues: Getting our economy back on track, securing our borders and protecting Arizona families.
