Rove Supporting Toomey Six Years Too Late

Healthcare might well be littered on the ground of yesterday’s failures if Karl Rove and the Bush II White House had been wiser in 2004.It was six years ago that Bush, Rove – and even conservative ex-U.S. Senator Rick Santorum – supported liberal Arlen Specter over conservative Pat Toomey in a Pennsylvania Senate primary race. Specter nipped Toomey in a close election and returned to office, only to turncoat into a Democrat last year.Specter’s vote helped Senate Democrats shut down a filibuster and pass the troublesome health care bill on Christmas Eve.And yesterday Rove was spouting off on the Hugh Hewitt radio show about how Toomey will beat Specter like a drum in the upcoming November election.Rove had as big a hand as anyone in destroying the Republican majority. He supported amnesty and failed to support GOP platform candidates. He was the architect of the Bush legacy of big government and massive spending.So we are today cynical of Rove’s support of Toomey, six years late in coming. And one crucial vote in the Senate. Had Toomey been there on Christmas Eve, Obama Care would have come to a screeching halt and government medical rationing would not be rearing its ugly head on the horizon.
